My Story: From Chaos to Clarity

Living In The Eye Of The Storm

For years, my life felt like a storm I couldn’t escape. I was constantly navigating waves of irritability, sadness, and overwhelming frustration. Some days, I’d be bursting with energy, tackling every project in sight—only to crash into exhaustion the next. Other days, the simplest tasks, like answering an email or planning dinner, felt insurmountable. It wasn’t just a matter of being overwhelmed; it was like my brain was at war with itself, pulling me in a hundred different directions.

I told myself, This is normal. Everyone feels this way sometimes. But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. The mood swings, the brain fog, and the relentless guilt—it wasn’t just a bad day or stress from work. It was my constant, unrelenting reality.

The Turning Point: Discovering ADHD

In my mid-thirties, I stumbled across Dr. Gabor Maté’s Scattered Minds. For the first time, I saw myself in the pages of a book. ADHD gave a name to the impulsivity, the hyperfocus, and the inability to follow through that had shadowed me my whole life. It was a revelation, but also a moment of heartbreak. I began to understand that my struggles weren’t just “me being me”—there was a deeper reason.

Yet, something still didn’t add up. Even after understanding ADHD, there were times when my symptoms flared up so intensely it felt like I was drowning. That’s when I discovered PMDD—Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder—and realized how hormonal changes were making everything worse. For two weeks every month, ADHD wasn’t just challenging—it was debilitating.

What It Felt Like

Imagine being in the middle of a conversation and forgetting what you were about to say—every single time. Imagine walking into a room and feeling like every noise, every light, and every movement is screaming for your attention. Now imagine that paired with an emotional rollercoaster so intense it leaves you crying over things you don’t even understand.

I’d snap at loved ones, then spiral into guilt and shame. I’d commit to big projects in moments of excitement, only to collapse under the weight of unfinished deadlines. I craved rest but couldn’t quiet my racing mind to get it. It was a constant cycle of survival, leaving little room to truly live.

For years, I carried the weight of these struggles in silence, convinced I had to figure it out on my own. I didn’t talk about it—I didn’t even know how. But learning about the connection between ADHD and PMDD was like a light turning on in a dark room. I realized that I wasn’t broken; my brain and body were simply trying to function under conditions I didn’t yet understand.

With that knowledge, I began the journey of healing—not just surviving, but learning to thrive. It wasn’t easy, and I still have days where I struggle, but understanding these conditions has been life-changing.

Why I am Sharing My Journey

I wrote this book because I know how isolating these struggles can feel. If you’re reading this, you might be a woman trying to juggle everything, wondering why you can’t focus, why your emotions feel out of control, or why you’re so exhausted all the time. You’re not alone.

Through my journey, I discovered tools that helped me heal, strategies that worked for my unique brain and body, and a sense of empowerment I never thought possible. My hope is that this book will offer you the same. I want you to know that there’s a reason for what you’re experiencing—and most importantly, there’s a way forward.

You are not broken. You are not alone. And you have the power to create a life that feels balanced, joyful, and uniquely yours.
